The Role
Korn Ferry seeks an experienced Privacy Associate General Counsel to join an established legal team. In this role, the candidate will coordinate with IT, Global Security, Legal and business teams to plan and execute on privacy initiatives. The ideal candidate must have the proven ability to work independently with internal and external clients, resolve client issues, and able to manage assigned workload to achieve firm goals.
Key Accountabilities
• Coordinate with IT, Global Security, Legal and business teams to plan and execute on privacy initiatives
• Conduct research and provide advice and guidance on existing and emerging privacy laws and regulations
• Participate in internal and external audits for certification to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC 27018:2014 standards
• Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of company policies, procedures, and training to support privacy initiatives
• Coordinate with outside counsel and consultants as required to work through privacy matters
• Review and advise on standard and custom consent text
• Prepare documents, data flows, and other materials related to privacy activities
• Conduct and evaluate privacy risk assessments and/or privacy impact assessments for new or updated products and services, analyze results to recommend mitigation and remediation activities, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with laws and internal standards
• Build strong relationships with key business partners to enhance the integration of compliance requirements into their processes
• Support third-party risk management program
• Assist with due diligence and integration of newly acquired companies
• Provide privacy and legal input regarding data incidents and data breaches in coordination with security and cross-functional teams
• Prepare data protection and data transfer agreement templates for use with clients and vendors, including internal usage guidelines
• Provide prompt, consistent and accurate review, interpretation, and negotiation of data protection agreements with clients and vendors
• Support and conduct on-going privacy training and awareness activities
• Continuously improve the firm's global privacy program
• Assist with Data Subject Requests, as needed
• Responsibilities may include other duties, as needed
Skills & Experience
• J.D. degree required, license to practice law
• 8-10 years of relevant work experience (privacy program management, legal or compliance)
• CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CPIM or other recognized privacy certification preferred
• Familiarity and experience with the U.S. and global privacy laws, marketing laws breach notification laws, and ISO standards
• Experience with privacy by design concepts and working with business partners to integrate compliance into projects and different phases of product lifecycles
• Experience working directly with clients and vendors at all levels and their legal counsel
• Experience working with professional services firm a plus
