Training Consultant - Alternative Fund Services (Finance)
Overview: AFS Training is responsible for connecting partners with resources to support On-the-Job requirements as well as individual development. Our model includes instructor-led courses and knowledge share sessions designed specifically for an AFS audience as well as connecting partners with training and resources available to all Northern Trust partners.
AFS Training is seeking a candidate to lead training-related operations in Tempe, Arizona. This role will service the Tempe, AZ office in-person as well as New York, NY and Stamford, CT virtually. The role is split between approximately 20 hours of instructor-led training each month (either in-person or virtually) and managing administrative program functions as outlined below.
The ideal candidate will possess strong presentation skills, an ability to connect with partners of all tenures and the skill set to manage multiple projects independently. Successful candidates will be comfortable and competent serving in a high visibility role that impacts both business operations and employee engagement.
Role Summary: Under general direction, defines learning and organization development objectives that support articulated business outcomes. Designs, develops and delivers learning and organization development solutions. Analyzes learning and organization development solutions for continuous improvement. Undertakes appropriate operational and administrative aspects of program management.
Major Duties:
•Works with management, performance consultants and/or subject matter experts to understand desired business outcomes and translate them into learning and organization development objectives.
•Works with stakeholders to determine appropriate learning methodologies and organization development solutions.
•Develops project plans including the identification of subject matter experts where appropriate.
•Develops and facilitates/delivers learning and organization development programs.
•Identifies appropriate external vendors and evaluates the applicability of their offerings.
•Manages ongoing vendor relationships.
•Maintains an inventory of training and organization development programs/tools and schedules their use according to management priorities.
•Evaluates training and organization development programs for effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvements.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Classroom & WebEx Instruction - Serve as trainer for Tempe (in person), New York (virtual) and Stamford (virtual) for all instructor-led courses designed by AFS Training
•Classroom & WebEx Facilitation - Meeting setup, introduction/kick-off, Q&A, wrap-up
•Course Creation and Partner Registration - Utilize Northern Trust University to create courses and sessions, register and track training participants/attendance, manage waitlists
•Scheduling - Room reservations and setup, conference/WebEx connectivity, calendar invitations
•Marketing - Communicate new course launches; create email templates for communication; liaise with Corporate Marketing for graphic design support
•Reporting and Analytics - Utilize Learning Management System to create and publish periodic metrics on course interest, registration and attendance
•SharePoint Repository Owner - Liaise with AFS Training colleagues and Shared Service managers to maintain document repository of all training materials
•Document Maintenance & Rebranding - Coordinate training document maintenance review; graphic rebranding project; manage printing services
Knowledge / Skills:
•Able to facilitate discussions and reach decisions.
•Requires good analytical ability, excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills and strong judgment.
•Strong instructional design and/or organization development skills.
•Ability to work independently
•Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
•Ability to drive meetings
•Attention to detail especially around grammar, spelling, visual design
•Required: Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Skype, WebEx; Desirable: Adobe Creative Suite, Learning management systems
Experience Required: Teaching, training, communication background desired. Otherwise minimum 3 years industry experience.
