The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and vision across the technical spectrum to bring innovative solutions that create shareholder value and enable our business growth strategies. He or she will lead our Japan Platforms team.
Your Team & Key stakeholders
As the Vice President of Japan Platforms reporting into the Chief Technology and Information Officer for GRI, you will advance the strategies of our Japan businesses around simplification and modernization of technology stacks by leveraging architectural principles and patterns developed by Enterprise Architecture. You will deploy solutions that are consumable and available across the enterprise and across countries. As a seasoned technology leader with international experience you will provide architecture consulting on large, business critical programs and/or initiatives that have high business visibility, impact and/or risk and complexity. You will be expected to bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, and an inclusive leadership attitude to all that you do. Key stakeholders include the US CTO and CDO teams to ensure the right platforms and capabilities are created and various Technology leaders in Tokyo. International travel will be required.

Evangelize and influence technological change and adoption at an international executive level.
Educate and provide thought leadership for a technology strategy and vision that aligns with business strategy and vision.
Determines organization-wide information needs and develops overall strategy to modernize technology platforms.
Brings current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as it relates to the organization's competitive position to enable business outcomes.
Collaborate closely with other engineers, architects, and partners to ensure product, platform, and data quality align with the global business objectives.
Create a culture of empowering leaders to adopt innovative agile thinking.
Communicate frequently with a variety of global stakeholders to ensure engagement and buy-in on decisions and proposed solutions.
Aligns the development of critical applications to our future roadmap. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theory. Creates solutions for critical business challenges.
The Skills & Expertise You Bring
Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering; or experience in related fields
Lead and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts, and perspectives to the benefit of the organization.
Proven experience (typically 20+ years) in technology leadership roles, with a track record of successfully leading global technology initiatives, transformations & digital innovation projects.
Expert knowledge of business concepts tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business.
Ability to learn new skills and knowledge of an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges.
Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills; enjoy learning new skills.
Experience working in an international capacity and/or at a multi-national company, exposure to Japan markets preferred. Bilingual proficiency a plus.
Expertise with several of the following:

Ability to story tell – make complex messages simple.
Decision-Making & Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Interpersonal Relationship: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Financial/Business Acumen: Strong knowledge of financial and/or business concepts, tools and processes and how financial metrics are used to monitor and drive outcomes. Includes understanding of company accounts/metrics (ex. Balance sheet, profit/loss, cash flow, budget, and forecast)
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of concept and principles of agile methodology; ability to apply appropriate agile approaches in the processes of software development and delivery.
