Product Development Manager (Legal)

Job Description:

Summary

The Product Development Manager reports to the Senior Product Development Manager and oversees a team of technical professionals (e.g. SQL Developers, Reporting Analysts, and Business System Analysts), as well as potential to oversee an Agile Development team consisting of Full Stack Microsoft Developers, Business Analysts, and QA team members.  The Product Development Manager is responsible for supporting team members and working with our Project Management teams to ensure we are aligned towards key development goals and milestones.

The primary role of the Product Development Manager is to provide oversight and mentorship to the team in the form of weekly 1 on 1s, provide insight and feedback on performance metrics and assist the staff in achieving their short and long-term career goals.  Additionally, the Product Development Manager will work closely with their peers to develop and accomplish strategic department goals that are defined each year.  The Product Development Manager works with other departments to establish a design, technology, product development, and vendor strategy. This individual should will manage project budgets and prepares financial analysis reports for both internal and external consumption.

Responsibilities

  • Regular interaction with technical team members and partners from Product Development and Management, Data Management & Analytics, and other core functional areas.  Ability to confidently speak to department needs, challenges, and concerns as it pertains to our use and understanding of technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; able to adjust for intended audience. Fluency in English.  Ability to convey thoughts, ideas, and objectives to both internal and external team members or stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with peers and management team to drive vision, missions, and objectives for the department.  Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet diverse and complex goals in reasonable timeframes.
  • Provide weekly 1 on 1s, feedback, and insight regarding performance to team members to assist with growth and development towards short and long term goals
  • Collaborate with peers to project staffing needs and plan for upcoming projects, initiatives, or implementations
  • Support administrative tasks like vacation planning, time approval, onboarding of new staff, etc.
  • Develop process improvement objectives, and monitor progress towards completion.

Requirements

  • 4 year college degree, ideally computer science or IT/Technology related field.  Equivalent work experience is also acceptable
  • 7 years experience in Product Development
  • 2 years experience in a Management or Supervisory role
  • 4 years of academic or pracitcal work experience in C#, C++, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript frameworksSQL and SSMS
  • Practical and direct experience with AGILE, KANBAN, and Waterfall Methodologies
  • High level of comfort in Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with developing or working in a Windows environment (Azure, Visual Studio, TFS)

Candidates based in Colorado or New York:

The Annual Compensation range for this role is 114,588.00 - 190,980.00 - Annual and may be eligible for an annual bonus. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
