If you are a BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI location, you will be focused on continuing our growth in the energy and utility space. You will work with the utility team as well as marketing and product teams to ensure we are focusing on the most impactful features and market segments. The role will be supporting Sensi thermostat sales, API integrations, and industry stewardship.
AS THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, YOU WILL:
Build strong relationships with new and existing partners in the energy and utility space
Represent Emerson at trade shows, industry groups and trade associations
Identify new sales opportunities directly with energy companies
Report out on trends in the industry to ensure we are focused on the most impactful segments in the space
Meet directly with utilities and partners to identify ways Sensi can become part of their solution
Mine for new opportunities by researching existing and future programs using public information and by utilizing databases
Understand the needs and opportunities for each product in the Sensi family and work with the teams to identify ways utility programs and incentives can impact sales and adoption
Become an expert on our products, both hardware and software, to ensure the best experience for our customers and partners
Work with sales and operations to maintain a database of leads and opportunities inside of Salesforce
Provide input and coordination of RFP, RFI and RFQs

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years of experience in the energy efficiency and/or demand response space
Experience in sales, both traditional and consultative
Thorough knowledge of the utility space as it applies to program management
Proven track record of successfully developing new programs in the utility and energy channels
Understanding of the roles of consultants and program implementers
Proven business communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to build data-driven reports
Comfortable with ambiguity
Ability to travel up to 30% for the role

Internal candidate or previous Emerson experience considered

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during the annual merit review process. In accordance with Colorado EPEWA, the salary range for this role is $75,000-$125,000 USD annually, including the Sales Incentive Bonus potential, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to this role.
