Supervisor, Renewable Production (Finance)



ALLETE Renewable Resources (ARRI), an ALLETE company, maintains and supports renewable energy projects, ensuring that sites are managed in a safe, environmentally responsible and financially prudent manner. ARRI provides day-to-day maintenance as well as technical and engineering support for Minnesota Power's 500-megawatt Bison Wind Energy Center in North Dakota and 25-megawatt Taconite Ridge Energy Center in Minnesota. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, direction, supervision and training to support wind generation operations, and other renewables operations, to assure highest reliability and maximum availability.
  • Has oversight responsibility for operational issues, including maintenance of all equipment and performing facility analysis to identify and resolve problems to avoid failure modes.
  • Responsible for the planning, prioritization and direction of routine and non-routine maintenance.
  • Develop and implement procedures to be used by employees and contractors to safely perform maintenance duties.
  • Serve as a technical resource for more complex situations.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and maintenance requirements.
  • Participate in the development of long-term plans and budgets to meet cost containment goals.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain relationships with contractors, regulatory agencies, landowners, and various internal departments.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma required.
    • A technical degree in electrical/mechanical maintenance, wind generation, or equivalent field of study is preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Seven years or more experience in power operations, electrical systems and instrumentation, and/or maintenance, preferably specific to wind energy is required.
  • Necessary training and qualifications for work on high voltage equipment.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems and applications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position will report regularly in person to New Salem, ND
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Skillset to perform high-end troubleshooting skills.
  • Manage and/or assist with construction-to-operations hand-over matters, including snag-lists, testing, warranties, etc.
  • Monitor performance of turbines in relation to reliability guarantees and agreements with turbine manufacturers.
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot complicated problems with variable pitch and variable speed control systems and components.
  • Must work closely and maintain relationships with operations and technical staff of turbine manufacturers.
  • Ability to take initiative in optimizing operating efficiency.
  • Knowledge of electrical motors and control fundamentals.
  • Ability to work from technical drawings, electrical diagrams, control circuitry, logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Diagnostic analysis of turbine generators and their maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, multi-priority environment.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb 300+ foot structures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 suite as well as other types of industry-specific software.
  • Effective writing skills
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

• The expected annual compensation range for this position is $98,000 - $122,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
