Controls Software Engineer (Marketing)




Meritor is in need of a well-rounded Controls Software Engineer. This is a fast-paced company providing a challenging environment where new products are always in development and open-ended problem solving is the norm. We are leading the charge in developing battery-electric drive systems for commercial vehicles, driving the planet towards a greener future. This job will have the candidate rotating between an office environment, vehicles and the production floor and thus requires a person who enjoys that diversity. This position is based at TransPower's Escondido, CA facility but could require some travel to support vehicles deployed at customer locations or to our Troy, MI offices.

Job Responsibilities:
• Synthesize software and controls requirements from vehicle system requirements
• Use Model-based tool chain for controls development and complete software lifecycle development
• Design model-based control systems for advanced electric vehicle supervisory controller system.
• Develop software per AutomotiveSPICE and ISO-26262 standards
• Perform rapid prototyping of algorithms and testing on vehicles
• Perform formal testing and analysis of models in MIL, SIL and HIL environments
• Perform integration of multiple software components and test
• Respond rapidly to customer issues and investigate vehicle control system problems
• Coordinate software activities with manufacturing, quality and service
• Furnish technical support and guidance to other engineers and designers
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Controls/Computer Engineering
• 5 years of engineering experience in a relevant field (Automotive or Aerospace)
• 3 years' experience developing software using model-based development tools such as Matlab Simulink & Stateflow
• Strong knowledge in development of control systems and specifications for purposes of energy management and increased operational safety or performance
• Strong knowledge in commissioning and calibration of vehicle systems, including control algorithms or other software systems
• Ability to understand vehicle electrical design and schematic layout
• Troubleshooting experience with tools such as oscilloscopes, multi meters, Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, and general problem-solving skills
• A strong understanding of vehicle sensors and associated I/O interface
• Experience with CAN connected devices and knowledge of CAN communication protocol including J1939
• Data analytical skills in programs such as Excel and Matlab
• Component specification, testing, calibration, and operational validation as it applies to advanced vehicles and power solutions
• Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and work levels
• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
• High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
• High level of oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area

Desired Qualifications
• Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Controls/Computer Engineering
• 3 years' experience in the field of Model-Based Controls Development using AUTOSAR or rapid controls methodology
• 3 years' experience developing Software according to the ASPICE and ISO 26262 product development lifecycle
• Experience in developing process based on safety standards ISO 26262
• Knowledge of closed loop testing of control models at various fidelity such as MIL, SIL and HIL.
• Experience in implementation, development and support for Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) using CANdelaStudio.
• Knowledge of high voltage system for electric propulsion architecture. Apply
