General objectives include research to improve railway track/bridge life cycle and performance, and to better understand the track/bridges loading environment. Projects include work on railway rails, bridges, tie and fastener systems, and substructure. These projects are funded by the Association of American Railroads as part of TTCI's Strategic Research Initiatives program and through Federal Railway Administration.
Primary Duties:
This internship supports laboratory and field testing; including test planning and scheduling, test setup, data collection and analysis, incorporation of material characteristics into computer simulations, and results reporting. The intern will also support in-track testing to verify, validate, and tune simulations of full-scale railway track.
