Certified Medication Assistant (C.M.A.) (Healthcare)

Job Summary:
The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) in an assisted living environment is responsible for safely administering medications to residents and assisting with daily living activities. This role ensures residents receive proper medication and compassionate care while maintaining their dignity and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer oral, topical, and inhaled medications to residents in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.

Accurately document medication administration and report any medication refusals or adverse reactions.

Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) such as grooming, bathing, dressing, and mobility.

Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or emotional health to the nursing team.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the medication cart and storage areas.

Ensure medications are securely stored and accounted for according to state and facility regulations.

Support residents in maintaining as much independence as possible.

Provide respectful and professional care that reflects the values of the facility.

Assist with routine checks, vital signs, and wellness monitoring as trained.

Participate in ongoing training, in-services, and team meetings.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.

Valid and current CMT certification in [State Name].

Prior experience in an assisted living or senior care setting (preferred).

CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Strong communication skills and a compassionate, resident-focused attitude.

Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to residents changing needs.

Physical and Work Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

Ability to handle occasional exposure to bodily fluids and various resident behaviors.

Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
