Nurse (RN)/VOA118 (Healthcare)
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) will provide program support and direct care to clients for minor illnesses and injuries, and make referrals to other medical professionals and facilities as appropriate. The Nurse will participate in ISP planning and monitoring as needed. Approximately 10% of the time, the Nurse will be engaged in activities out in the community and/or the clients' natural setting.
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and registration and license (RN) with two (2) years of experience working with individuals who have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness. Registration and license to practice nursing in District of Columbia (RN License). LPN's with applicable experience may be considered.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one- on-one and small group situations to customers clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to provide off site visits if required, administer medications in accordance with license restrictions. Individual must be comfortable working with individuals with a mental illness and be a team player.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
