Senior Director, Technical Accounting and External Reporting

*The ideal candidate will be commutable to Acton, MA

The Senior Director of Technical Accounting and External Reporting will provide technical accounting support to the business and corporate accounting, document key accounting positions, serve as the technical accounting subject matter expert with respect to the company's accounting policies, SEC filings and emerging accounting issues from the FASB and /or SEC and oversee the external reporting compliance function. This position reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee company-wide technical accounting consultation via research on and analysis of complex accounting issues, applying relevant technical guidance and interpretation.

• Full documentation and communication, including recommendation, of accounting treatment to finance personnel across the company.

• Continuously monitor, document, and communicate the development of new accounting standards, interpretations, and emerging guidance to the finance organization, including current and future impact on the company.

• Oversee, implement, and maintain the company's accounting policies and monitor compliance; lead policy initiatives, such as implementing new accounting standards and/or interpretations.

• Provide training on new or existing accounting standards to company employees.

• Field technical accounting queries from audit firms and external agencies; key point of contact for external auditors.

• Manage reporting and filing process for Forms 10-Q and 10-K and other external reporting; oversee work of Managers of External Reporting and Technical Accounting.

• Interact with senior management, including CFO and CEO as part of the reporting process

• Organize and lead quarterly disclosure committee meetings

• Serve as an internal resource for guidance on external reporting matters

• Collaborate regularly with various functions, including HR, legal, treasury, business development and facilities to ensure any accounting aspects associated with both ongoing matters and new initiatives are addressed timely

• Oversee contract review to ensure any accounting implications are identified

• Oversee specialized areas of accounting, including lease accounting, accounting for share-based payments and calculation of diluted shares

• Manage third-party relationships with various outside vendors, including accounting firms, audit firm, and reporting compliance software firm

• Review financial-related press releases and assist Investor Relations in preparing for quarterly earnings releases and conference calls.

• Support special projects and unique analyses related to acquisitions, financing transactions, impairment testing and other company initiatives

• Recommend and implement continuous process improvements to maximize efficiency in the close process, particularly with regard to financial reporting.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• CPA certification required

• Minimum of 12 years related work experience applying GAAP accounting and SEC requirements, including minimum of 6 years auditing experience within a large, multi-national public accounting firm (e.g. Big 4); experience in a publicly-held company preferred and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• High degree of technical proficiency, including specific experience leading complex accounting research activities in revenue recognition, required; prior experience with business combinations, valuations, equity, and consolidations is preferred.

• Strong project management and prioritization skills

• Able to influence, act collaboratively, and drive results through others.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

NOTE: This position is eligible for 100% remote working arrangements (may work from home/virtually 100%; may also work hybrid on-site/virtual as desired). #LI-Remote

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $182,550.00 - $273,825.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
