The Opportunity

  • Supervises up to 30 coding team members. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this unit.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's compliance policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, training, planning and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Reviews quality and productivity and other measurement factors to identify trends and provide appropriate information for corrective action to team members. Meets with employees to provide them feedback.
  • Maintains and updates coding logs (missed ancillaries, decreased levels, daily log, site specifics, contacts, turnaround-documents, etc.) and keeps them current.
  • Analyses of various reports (missed ancillaries, decreased levels, productivity reports, overtime reports, etc.) and interfaces with Medical Director, Manager, Client Services, Coding Specialists and take appropriate action, and follows up as necessary.
  • Interacts with Medical and Regional Directors to provide updates on relevant sites issues; participates in many conference calls and on-site visits to help promote communication and clarify any coding issues that may arise.
  • Must present a professional image and have strong telephone etiquette and excelling writing skills.
  • Notifies and provides feedback to Clinicians of insufficient or ambiguous documentation and requests clarification.
  • Coordinates timely paperwork/charts and answers questions for Manager, Client Services, Billing Supervisors, Team Members, Clinician Education Analysts regarding coding.
  • Process turnaround document (TAD) addendum requests; including reviewing charts for items requested.
  • Work with Billing Supervisors and Coding Analysts to clarify and/or correct coding issues (coding corrections, class changes, insurance denials, team questions, etc.).
  • Monitor activities of team members; provides feedback and counsel team members regarding performance, timekeeping and personnel issues.
  • Works with Manager, Coding, Sr. Coding Manager, People Operations to resolve on-going performance issues.
  • Reviews ADP time keeping system to address employee requests, makes necessary corrections and approves on a timely basis for payroll purposes.
  • Supports, promotes and represents Vituity in a positive and professional manner.
  • Participates in special projects as requested by Vituity Management and or Medical Directors.
  • Maintains/directs coding platform assignment flows (charts ready to code, suspends and resubmits).
  • Responsible for maintaining suspended charts in management queues.
  • Remain current in coding practices and compliance requirements through reading periodicals and attending coding related conferences.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Associate degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or 5 years related experience required.
  • Management or supervisory experience with similar responsibilities required.
  • 2 years prior coding experience required.
  • Experience in healthcare/Coding/Billing preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD 10).
  • Travel may be required up to 10%.

We are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $64,970 - $81,215, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual corporate Success Sharing bonus program, which is based on the company's annual performance. If you are hired at Vituity, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience.
