Senior Relationship Manager (Finance)

Overview

The Specialist within Global Fund Services Client Servicing will serve as Custody Servicing Relationship Manager to help drive measurable enhancements in custody servicing, including third party investment manager satisfaction, client service quality, operational productivity, and effective communication both internally and externally. This individual is a seasoned investment operations expert with extensive business and/or technical knowledge. Works in partnership with the Asset Servicing Custody teams to escalate and resolve issues, improve efficiency and increase productivity. Collaborates with Asset Servicing Business Development teams as revenue opportunities arise with third party investment manager custody relationships.

Job Responsibilities

Develop Relationship Plans, execute the Investment Manager calling program and document results. Establish and maintain connections with decision makers and senior operations contacts across all Investment Managers assigned. Responsible for understanding each Investment Manager's operations support model, strategy, and future growth potential while maintaining a liaison relationship between the Investment Manager and internal partners. Communicate investment manager's business and strategic goals, priorities and objectives to client service managers and service teams. Serve as the escalation point for analysis and resolution of complex operational issues that arise. Identify opportunities for improvement within Northern Trust and existing technology capabilities while acting as a liaison with Partner areas to drive resolution. Ensure appropriate operational controls in order to manage and mitigate risk to Northern Trust. Proactively communicate upcoming industry and market changes, ensuring all applicable client teams are informed and prepared. Lead team discussions and knowledge share sessions about servicing and technology-related themes across the relationship coverage base while regularly proposing solutions and/or suggestions to improve level of client service. Responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal partners and external contacts. Provides Investment Managers access to subject matter expertise both internally and externally.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

A College or University degree and/or 7-10+ years of relevant work experience

Previous Financial Services, Asset Management and/or Investment Operations experience

Understanding of Back and Middle Office Support

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Skills in negotiation, delegating, leadership, and service delivery

Analytical and problem solving skills

Highly flexible and adaptable to change

Knowledge of industry best practices for financial services operations

Attention to detail

Works with a sense of urgency

Salary Range:
$103,000 - 175,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
