Position Summary
Manage the Job Cost Accounting department and ensure proper accounting and project controls of all construction projects. Serves as a liaison with the areas, including with respect to enforcing Job Cost policies and procedures, effective communication and alignment with the companies' Accounting and SOX policies.
Essential Job Functions
• Oversee the day-to-day Job Cost functions.
• Partner with Business Support to recruit, train, coach and develop direct reports. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that individual objectives are established and reviewed using the performance management process to create an environment of innovation, reward excellence and address performance issues.
• Provide oversight and leadership for the monthly close process and Job Cost review, including providing value add analytic reviews.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial statements and account reconciliations of job cost owned accounts.
• Manage, review, and analyze weekly, monthly, and quarterly job cost reports for accuracy and timely completion.
• Maintain Job Cost Accounting and operating policies and procedures and revise/improve as necessary, including cordination surrounding the implementation of new or changing accounting policies, with particular attention to the areas of revenue recognition and capitalization of costs.
• Develop and foster relationships between the Job Cost team, Area management and Service Delivery to ensure appropriate customer service and consistent application and adherence to operating and accounting policies.
• Sponsorship of trainings and timely communications to the areas with respect to Job Cost Accounting policies and procedures.
• Work with internal and external auditors to prepare and analyze reports and resolve audit questions.
• Evaluate downstream and future impacts of potential changes to procedures and systems while contemplating strategic impact of new and/or changing business needs.
• Lead, identify, implement and analyze process improvement opportunities and enhancements to tools and systems. Consider feedback from all business partners.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Job cost on major projects and corporate initiatives.
• Liaison and build a strong relationship with business partners including the Areas, IT, Real Estate, Tax and Finance.
• Lead other special projects as assigned.
Education/Certifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Certified Public Accountant and/or Master's Degree preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
• Seven (7) years of experience preferably in job cost accounting or another general ledger function.
• Experience in telecommunications, construction or real estate industries a plus
Other Skills/Abilities
• Expertise in accounting principles surrounding Job Cost function, including revenue recognition and expense capitalization
• Expert knowledge of Accounting ERP, J.D. Edwards preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, most importantly Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with subordinates and management through written and verbal methods
• Highly developed analytical/problem-solving skills
• Ability to diagnose work flow problems, critical path and institute remedies
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and work effectively in deadline-driven environment within a dynamic organization

Reports to: Assistant Controller - Financial Accounting
Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): Senior Job Cost Accountant, may also include Job Cost Supervisor and/or Job Cost Accountant
Working Conditions: Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
