Assistant Director of Aircraft Maintenance (Project Management)
The Assistant Director of Maintenance is responsible for the safe and efficient performance of aircraft maintenance for Lynden Air Cargo's fleet in order to provide airworthy aircraft to meet Lynden Air Cargo Operations requirements. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manages supervisors who supervise employees in the Maintenance Production Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least three years maintenance experience on transport category aircraft with an air carrier or certificated repair station, with one year's responsibility for returning aircraft to service. At least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining transport category aircraft.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including but not limited to, maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to analyze financial reports, prepare cost benefit analysis, generate budgets and financial forecasts.
Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems in a highly controlled and regulated environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings;
FCC General Radio Telephone Operator License; desirable, but not required.
Current US Driver License
Current US Passport
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be qualified for Required Inspection Authorization. Run-Up/Taxi Authorization preferred.
Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time (up to a total of 4 out of 12 months a year).
Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases.
Must be able to develop and maintain professional and productive working relationships with vendors, FAA Principal Inspectors, OEM representatives for current and future Lynden Air Cargo fleet.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
