Associate Director, Translational Biology (Creative Design)
Primary duties/responsibilities:
Lead Pharmacology efforts on cross functional teams and provide scientific leadership.
Plans, initiates, directs, executes and oversees scientific research and experiments and interprets and communicates results as part of multi-disciplinary team(s).
Responsibilities include directing experiments in rodents utilizing gene therapy or small molecules. Study endpoints may include distribution, behavioral, and/or safety.
Ex vivo analysis of samples to measure mRNA and protein levels. Understanding of biomarkers and linking a biomarker to a functional outcome in an animal model.
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to research problems.
Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories related to human disease and/or drug discovery.
Develops and writes protocols, study reports and IND documents as appropriate.
Maintains appropriate knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and identifies new project areas or technologies.
Abides by all IACUC requirements and ensure that direct report/s are also compliant.
Abides by all safety requirements.
Supervise the activities of other personnel and assume a leadership role in a cross functional team.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
Broad scientific knowledge and expertise in drug discovery and development
Experience and understanding of regulatory requirements for identifying and developing preclinical biomarkers and providing preclinical data to support drug candidate development.
Experience mentoring and supervising scientists.
* Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.
PhD degree in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 10 years of combined experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment.
* Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.
Experience in neurological and/or immunological models of disease.
Track record of consistent and successful drug discovery accomplishments (e.g., patent inventorship, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Attention to detail.
Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
Demonstrated ability to write scientific documents and reports.
Excellent verbal and written communication and skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Pharmacology expertise in neuroscience, immunology, translational biology, biomarkers, or predictive toxicology.
Expertise in fluorescent cytometry (FACs) analysis, western blot, ELISA and other immunological methods.
* Travel requirements
Up to 10%. Travel between local PTC facilities as required.
