Requirements:
Valid LVN License in good standing
At least one year's experience as an LVN, good understanding of in-services
Previous DSD experience, a plus
Job Duties:
Communicate effectively with all staff, residents and family members
Maintain a positive and calm disposition when communicating with staff, residents, family, visitors, government entities, etc.
Develop and monitor goals and objectives of in-service trainings for the facility
Interview, hire and orient new nurses
Create and maintain records and reports pertinent to in-service requirements
Partner with Administrator and DON to meet daily staffing and PPD goals
Review and create daily staffing schedule
Attend meetings and services on committee's as required
Assists in development of reports and consulting departmental staff and others regarding epidemiologic findings.
Assists in implementation, and maintenance of disease surveillance systems.
Demonstrates knowledge of state and local public and individual health problems and programs. Collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data in accordance with all applicable guidelines as needed.
Uses appropriate formats and within established timeframes, completes necessary reports, graphs, and charts necessary for accurate, current information distribution.
Assists with the development of policies and procedures for new and existing disease control programs Demonstrates flexibility and innovation in developing recommendations for improvements Assists as assigned with testing and implementation of new procedures to ensure desired results.
Demonstrates knowledge of the epidemiology and the control of certain infections and/or chronic diseases, as well as of state and local public health programs, policies, and procedures in providing explanations and answers.
Participates in special projects as assigned, coordinating with other staff as necessary.
Other responsibilities include:
Ensure all staff attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard
Orientation and file keeping for new and existing employees (specifically keeping track of the licensed employees and their licenses)
Provide direct patient care when not performing DSD duties
Represent the department and participate in top level meetings
Implement recommendations from the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee as they relate to the educational needs of the facility
Follow Infection and Control policies and procedures
Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately
Protect each resident's file and data with confidentially per HIPAA standards
Abide with all facility policies and procedures including not disclosing user ID codes and passwords
Coordinate staffing for Nurses, CNAs
