Junior Cost Analyst (Education)



The Junior Cost Analyst will be responsible for monitoring projects, budgets, forecasting costs, analyzing variances, pricing change orders and financial reporting across multiple projects. The Junior Cost Analyst will support the team by gathering data, preparing reports, tracking expenditures, and ensuring accurate and timely cost reporting across projects. This position will be based onsite at the T E C Industrial Corporate Office in Kingsport, TN.

Duties/Responsibilities
Provides detailed financial analysis and reports of expenses, including breakdowns of project costs, forecasts remaining expenses, and opportunities to increase efficiency.
Maintain project cost tracking tools, cost databases and reports.
Perform basic earned value analysis and support monthly reporting cycles.
Monitor, flag and report on budget variances, change orders, and cost impacts.
Support in the preparation of monthly and quarterly cost performance reports for stakeholders and senior management.
Collaborate closely with project managers, schedulers, and procurement teams to align cost tracking with project schedule and scope.
Support cost estimating, benchmarking, and financial risk analysis during planning and execution phases.
Ensure alignment with cost data and reporting.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and project control procedures.
Recommend corrective actions and cost optimization strategies when deviations from budget occur.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency is Microsoft Excel; familiarity with cost software (e.g., SAP, Oracle or similar) is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting or business required.
At least 5 years of related experience required.
Requirements
Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably and complete each shift.

Physical Profile Requirements

This job is performed in a generally clen and healthy environment. The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions are sedentary but may require the following physical demands.
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 20 pounds.
Some climbing and balancing.
Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
Significant fine finger and motor dexterity.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, fax machines, phones, filing cabinets, etc. The employee must have the ability to transport necessary equipment and supplies and set up for meetings, etc. The employee must have a current Valid Drivers License and the ability to travel to various locations if necessary.
