Oracle Database Admin (Finance)



Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Oracle DBA with a strong background in Oracle Exadata to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases running on Exadata platforms. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, robust technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Database Administration: - Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases, including Oracle RAC/GRID and standalone environments. - Manage and maintain Oracle databases running on Exadata platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. - Execute database patching, backups, recovery, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies. Exadata Management: - Administer, monitor, and optimize Oracle Exadata environments, including storage cells, compute nodes, and InfiniBand/ROCE switches (Oracle Exadata Interconnect) networks. - Perform Exadata maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, system health checks, and resource optimization. - Leverage Exadata-specific features like Smart Scan, Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC), and storage indexing for performance tuning. Performance Tuning and Optimization: - Perform database performance analysis and tuning to resolve bottlenecks. - Utilize Oracle tools such as AWR, ADDM, OEM, and Exadata diagnostics to monitor database performance. - Collaborate with application developers to optimize queries, indexes, and storage configurations. Automation and Scripting: - Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (e.g., Shell, Python, Ansible, or PL/SQL). - Write and maintain scripts for database health checks, backups, and log analysis. Security and Compliance: - Implement and maintain database security policies, such as encryption, auditing, and access control. - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. - Perform periodic security assessments and recommend improvements. - Responsible for current and improvements to SOX process including UAR, Admin Review. Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication: - Partner with cross-functional teams, including application development, infrastructure, and operations teams. - Troubleshoot complex database and application issues, providing quick and effective solutions. - Document best practices, lessons learned, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Emerging Technologies and Best Practices: - Stay up-to-date with Oracle's and Exadata's latest features, tools, and updates. - Evaluate new features and technologies to enhance system performance and capabilities. - Provide leadership in identifying and proposing improvements to database environments. Qualifications: Technical Skills: - 8+ years as an Oracle DBA, with at least 5 years of experience working on Oracle Exadata. - Extensive experience as an Oracle DBA, including expertise in Oracle 11g, 19c with 23ai being a bonus. - Proven expertise managing Oracle Exadata systems (X-series or later) and its architecture. - Strong proficiency with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, RMAN, and ASM. - Knowledge of Exadata-specific features (Smart Scan, Storage Offload, Exadata Storage Indexes, HCC, Smart Flash Cache). - Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and other database monitoring tools. - Proficient in SQL, PL/SQL scripting, and Unix/Linux shell scripting. - Solid understanding of system internals for Linux/Unix operating systems. - Experience with backup and recovery solutions for Exadata environments. - Familiarity with Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Cloud offerings. Additional Knowledge: - Hands-on experience with performance troubleshooting in Exadata environments. - Understanding of networking, InfiniBand, and storage concepts related to Exadata. Soft Skills: - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to lead and mentor junior DBAs. - Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. Educational Requirements: - Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Oracle certifications preferred (OCP/OCM for Oracle Database/Exadata Engineers). Preferred Experience: - Deep understanding of high-availability and disaster recovery solutions. - Previous experience migrating to/from Exadata environments. - Familiarity with cloud databases or Oracle Autonomous Database. - Experience with Rubrik Security Cloud: Backups and Managed Volumes.
