Fitch Ratings is currently seeking an Associate Director to join its Municipal Structured Finance team based out of our New York office location.

Fitch Ratings is seeking a self-motivated, inquisitive professional with capital markets/structured finance or other credit relevant experience for the Municipal Structured Finance team within the US Public Finance group. The candidate must be able to work independently, with preference given for knowledge of the municipal structured finance, including municipal pool transactions and credit-supported VRDOs, Tender Option Bonds, and commercial paper programs .

We'll Count on You To:

  • Analyze transactions and assign ratings on municipal structured transactions using a combination of proprietary models and as well as fundamental credit analysis. Present rating recommendations to committee of analysts; participate in rating committee deliberations.
  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and utilize Fitch proprietary models and documents for the purpose of producing ratings, publishing credit reports, and contributing to special research reports.
  • Participate in and lead meetings with issuer management teams, investment bankers and financial advisors.
  • Identify relevant trends, assess their credit impact and highlight these trends in updated industry and market focused reports/presentations.
  • Contribute to the development of criteria that expands broaden Fitch's ability rate transactions within the evolving market.
  • Some travel required; hybrid work schedule requires staff to be in the office at least three days/week.

What You Need to Have:

  • Work experience of 4-8 years in structured finance/public finance including demonstrated experienced with pooled transactions.
  • Candidate will ideally possess an undergraduate and graduate degree in Finance, Business or Accounting or another relevant sector, or a Professional Certification (CFA, CPA, etc) in a relevant field.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work independently, seek answers/assistance as needed, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, transaction-oriented environment.

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Capital markets and/or structured finance experience a plus;
  • Knowledge of multiple credit sectors within the public finance market
  • Experience with bond pool transactions.

FOR NEW YORK AND CALIFORNIA ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $115,000 and $135,000. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch's total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
