Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, Neuropathologist- Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, McGovern Medical School (Finance)



McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston ( UTHealth) , a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), clinical track faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor.

We are looking for a team-oriented Clinical Pathologist to join our team. Our affiliated hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, is expanding its services to address a variety of medical conditions and challenges. This expansion offers significant opportunities for career growth for candidates who possess the ability and skills to build relationships across units and clinical teams.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing training of residents, fellows, and medical students as well as development of an individual and//or collaborative research program.
  • Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborating with UTHealth Houston, hospital administration, and physicians to identify future opportunities and define the direction of department services, developing and implementing plans to achieve identified goals.
  • Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in fields of expertise, supporting and promoting education and research.
  • Servicing in Autopsy may be desired in the future.

Qualifications:

  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License (M.D. or D.O.).
  • Residency with board certification in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology.
  • Neuropathology experience and preferred formal fellowship training in Neuropathology with a subspecialty experience in at least one of the following areas: Molecular, Cardiovascular, Pediatrics, General Surgical Pathology, or Gastrointestinal. The successful candidate will join a growing subspecialized pathology service that supports the clinical and academic mission of UTHealth Houston.
