Advanced Research Scientist (Finance)



Nature of Work: Performs a variety of lab and/or field experiments which require competency with standard and more advanced scientific techniques and equipment in disciplines such as molecular biology, microbiology, genomics, physiology, and pathology/microscopy. Work also includes contribution to the design, execution, and troubleshooting of the experiments. Modifications to the methods is expected to be based on familiarity with the essential underlying principles, and are made in a semiautonomous manner. The individual may act as a laboratory expert in certain specialized techniques, such as physiologic, molecular, genomic, or microscopic methods. Analysis of results may rise to a greater level than Research Scientist.This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical or medical science with 2 years of experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

nucleotide samples, microscopy and other modes of imaging, flow cytometry analysis and other immunological methods, gene transfection using CRISPR/Cas9 technology;

Conceptualizes, designs and conducts independent research under faculty supervision; Writes, submits, modifies Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) study protocols; Performs data collection using standardized research protocols; Ensures study protocols are followed to ensure compliance. Meets regularly with supervising faculty to review study progress, timeline, and findings. Prepares briefings of results and works closely with supervising faculty during interpretation of study results. Help faculty to supervise students and technicians in the laboratory.

Develops, edits, and updates standardized laboratory documents including IRB and IACUC protocols, study notebooks, data collection templates, participant forms and
reporting templates. Assists with preparing reports and other documents for publication and dissemination to journals. Submits abstracts and attends academic meetings to present findings and discoveries Apply
