Responsibilities

Bridge

What you'll be challenged to do:

Seeking a Certified Bridge Inspector (CBI) licensed by the Florida Department of Transportation. Candidate shall be familiar with the FDOT Bridge Inventory Database System.  Looking for a technical individual, team oriented with strong communication skills. Individual must be willing to travel and work outside.

General Duties & Responsibilities: individual will be trained in the following:

  • Asist the bridge inspection team in the field to comply with Florida and National Bridge Inspection requirements.
  • Organize and enter inspector's notes into the Bridge Management System (BMS).
  • Organize and enter inspector's recommendations into the Bridge Management System (BMS).
  • Prepare reports for submission.
  • Individual will be required to take and convert measurements.
  • Other duties may be assigned, but not limited to:
  • Keep track of inspection files for different projects.
  • Communication with sub-consultants on related tasks.
  • Basic office duties.
  • Maintaining file folder for different inspection projects.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
  • Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.
  • Quality Control review of other inspection team's work
  • Mentor and guide less experienced inspectors in bridge inspection techniques.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active CBI certification.
  • Minimum basic knowledge of computers and typing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, OneNote, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
  • Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Knowledge of Adobe, Paint.net, Print Station, Better jpeg, and Google Maps.
  • Knowledge of FDOT Mainframe, BrM, Bridge Management System (BMS) and Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
  • NHI certification in the Safety Inspection of Fracture Critical Bridges.
  • NHI certification in the Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and frequenctly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a bucket truck or a pickup. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
