Vice President, PGIM Strategy (Marketing)

Overview

The Strategy team advises the PGIM CEO and the affiliates on setting and executing their strategic priorities, including both organic priorities and M&A. The purpose of this role is to work closely with the PGIM Chief Strategy Officer and the senior team to identify, structure, manage, and summarize findings from a broad range of strategic initiatives, including evaluating prospective M&A and partnership targets, reviewing significant product line expansions and growth / diversification plans, and efficiency-oriented initiatives. Effective execution will require excellent relationship management skills, high attention to detail, ability to prioritize and effectively manage projects and processes, and ability to multi-task as well as a strong sense of urgency. The role reports to the PGIM Chief Strategy Officer. The role will be part of a small, flat strategy function that works directly with the President and CEO of PGIM.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Define, build the business case, prioritize and execute on critical cross-PGIM strategic initiatives
  • Proactively monitor, anticipate and assess market, client, competitor and regulatory trends to ensure PGIM and its affiliates are positioned appropriately
  • Screen, evaluate and execute on new product, new business, M&A, and partnership opportunities that align with the overall PGIM strategy; work in partnership with the corporate M&A team as appropriate
  • Partner with PGIM business leaders to support the development and execution of strategic plans related to their specific businesses
  • Support and drive the implementation of recommendations by taking a leadership role across disciplines and serve as a central point of coordination to ensure collaboration across the organization
  • Drive project team activities and deliverables and ensure project execution remains aligned with overall strategy
  • Participate in and evaluate growth opportunities through cross-business unit initiatives with other units of Prudential, including the retirement, annuities and life insurance businesses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant investment industry experience, with a combination of prior strategy consulting experience and hands-on experience at a major asset manager
  • Strong and well-developed analytical, problem-solving and quantitative skills
  • Leadership characteristics combined with strong inter-personal skills, and ability to collaborate with and manage a complex set of senior internal stakeholders
  • Effective executive-level communication skills, both oral and written.  Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to influence executive leadership.
  • Results-oriented with an ability to execute on strategic initiatives
  • Strategic thinker, passionate about identifying opportunities and driving change
  • History of managing a team of professionals in project-based environments with proven ability to coach and develop the team
  • Intellectually curious, globally aware, driven, ambitious, commercial; wants to win and works well in fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with high level of energy, integrity, personal responsibility and accountability

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials; a post graduate degree is a plus
