Summary:

The IT Field Service Technician will install, test, troubleshoot and maintain various technologies across a diverse manufacturing environment. This position will provide on-site services that include deploying IT hardware to supporting endpoints such as desktops, laptops, routers, switches, telecommunications services, and IDF/data center devices. This person will work closely with other technicians and engineers, ISPs, equipment vendors, as well as internal operations and engineering staff. Providing best-of-breed customer service to the supported end-users is critical. Regular interaction with OBE employees and other supporting parties will be crucial to the success of the person in this role.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Support company mobile devices, printers, personal computers, and related equipment
  • Demonstrate communication and teamwork skills with customers, co-workers, and subcontractors to express ideas and technical concepts to solve problems.
  • Monitor, replace, and life cycle tracking of plant networking hardware such as UPS systems, switches, and routers - including user hardware (computers, tablets, scanners, and printers).
  • Assist with OT (Operational Technology) specific networking and IT needs. Assist with OT projects that will include a data interface with ERP systems. Act as IT/OT liaison to facilitate communication and ensure the requirements of both are satisfied.
  • Provide technical assistance to OBE employees, answer questions or resolve computer problems for employees in person, via telephone, or from a remote location.
  • Perform installation, upgrades, and additions to service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment, and other various low voltage related systems.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Provide an exemplary and professional interface between the IT department and all customers by sending and receiving email, phone, and in-person communications to ensure that information flow is accurate, timely, and professional.

Here's What We're Looking For

  •  Candidate must have a good understanding of personal computers, peripherals & associated accessories with a solid understanding of desktop applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting printers, including Zebra and Datamax label printers
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent work experience (troubleshooting, implementing, managing)A+ certification a plusPC troubleshooting skills required to help with employee questions
  • Mechanical skills to work on computer equipment
  • Microsoft Software (Windows 10, Word, Excel, Email, etc.) experience required
  • 2+ Years providing IT management or support in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems
  • Appropriately tailor communication to and work effectively with both business and technical teams
  • Ability to manage 3rd party vendors, external IT consultants, and implementation teams as it pertains to data center HW
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the general computing environment
  • Provide after-hours on-site support when needed to resolve IT/OT production issues.
  • Follow safety procedures, ensure all work is being done according to safety policies and procedures, and code compliance
  • Professional appearance, attitude, and ability to communicate with customers at all levels
  • Experience with Purdue networking model type in an industrial environment is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of IT vs. OT requirements and differences regarding networking needs, redundancy, uptime, interface, ease of use, and security
  • The role will be based in our Terrell, TX facility- position requires regular and predictable on-site attendance

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift equipment and tools up to 50lbs and ability to climb ladders, use lifts and scaffolding to include performing work in unusual and sometimes tricky locations such as ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings
