Staff Accountant (Finance)



POSITION SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the company's overall financial operations. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting in month-end close activities, and providing accurate financial data for decision-making. The Staff Accountant will collaborate closely with the accounting team and contribute to the efficient operation of the finance department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • General Ledger and Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and post journal entries ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Provide support to A/R as a backup, research and resolve technical issues, monitor subledger for accuracy.
    • Monitor, prepare/post, and reconcile intercompany accounts communicating with other business units to ensure accurate and proper postings.
  • Month-End Close Activities:
    • Participate in month-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis.
    • Maintain detailed schedules and records to support financial reporting.
  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
    • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support team with auditor inquiries.
  • Special Projects and Process Improvement:
    • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Participate in ad hoc projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING: Reports directly to the Finance Manager and collaborates with team members across the finance and operations departments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems

Prior experience with Syteline ERP & OneStream Financial Reporting software a plus, but not required

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 15 pounds. Requires manual agility sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers and other office equipment as the position requires. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a typical office setting. This position may require working outside of standard business hours.
