POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the planning of the Production Control Schedule, planning and procurement of raw materials, Kanban levels, inventory levels, and equipment as required as well as the firming orders for kitting at our central distribution center. This position supports the Integrated Supply Chain, specifically the Materials department. The Buyer/Planner will work closely with the Distribution Center, Shop Floor personnel, and Order Management to obtain, understand and generate demand at the optimum level. Once the Production schedule is determined, requirements at the component level will be exploded to generate requisitions for the purchase of raw materials.
The Buyer/Planner will be responsible to review requisitions and release orders to various suppliers. This position will work closely with the supply base to maximize supplier performance. The Buyer/Planner will be responsible to work exception reports to manage inventory and increase our OTD metric. Other responsibilities include working with the Production Supervisor to maximize throughput and resources as well as assist with cycle count reconciliation.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This position must develop and maintain excellent relationships with both internal customers and outside suppliers. Regular interaction with all levels across multiple organizations is required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyze data for planning and release, shortage resolution, ordering and inventory analysis. Generate weekly Plan Build (MPS).
2. Schedules and releases production orders according to kanban priority and production schedules.
3. Provides delivery date commitments on work in process and finished goods products to Value Stream manager, materials manager and Customer Service.
4. Prepares purchasing requisition, generate Purchase Orders; work with supplier to ensure parts are delivered on time to Purchase Order schedules.
5. Reviews exception report from MRP system and make adjustments as required.
6. Work with Shared Services and Suppliers to reconcile invoices and payments and manage for performance improvements.
7. Monitor inventory level to avoid excess inventory, inventory shortages and or inventory inaccuracies.
8. Assist with cycle count reconciliations if needed.
9. Work with Quality personnel to resolve supplier quality issues. Performs all tasks in accordance with Greenlee's Business Conduct Guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain or equivalent required. Three to five years experience in a Supply Chain role (Planning, scheduling, and purchasing of materials), preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Lean manufacturing experience preferred. SAP, ordering systems and principles preferred. Microsoft Office skills required include Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Normally assigned to an office environment; may occasionally be required to be in the factory environment. Uses computer frequently; interfaces with the other employees and outside visitors by telephone, mail, electronic mail, and/or in person. Perform complex and varied tasks that require independent knowledge, its application to a variety of situations, and the exercise of independent judgment. This position routinely handles and maintains confidential information. Continuous, and at times, concentrated mental and visual attention where the work is repetitive, or duties are diversified and require continuous alertness and /or activity.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position may exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, finger, grasp, handle or otherwise move objects. Additionally, this position requires moderate to considerable physical effort working with average or heavy weight material, not to exceed fifty pounds (50 lbs). This position also requires standing for extended periods of time. The incumbent must have the ability to carry objects; perform dynamic activities including reaching and stretching; and frequent bending and twisting of the torso.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical office and manufacturing shop environments floor with possible exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, oil and water. May be exposed to any number of these elements.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Safety glasses with side shield steel toed safety shoes, gloves and other personal protective equipment as necessary.
