Assistant Librarian - Instructional Services Librarian (Finance)
The Instructional Services Librarian will lead instructional initiatives at the University of Houston Law Center Library, including administering the first-year legal research program, in addition to providing other public services functions, including reference and research services. Candidates should have demonstrated instructional experience or interest, a proven capacity to work both independently and as a team member; and the ability to work effectively with law faculty, students, and staff. Formal instructional opportunities are available, but are awarded and paid separately.
Candidates must hold both a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and an MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library or information science program, but we will consider those who are enrolled in such a program and will graduate by the end of summer 2025. Candidates should demonstrate potential for success as teachers, researchers, and future members of the UH and the Law Center's broader community.
The Instructional Services Librarian reports to the Director of the Law Library.
The Instructional Services Librarian is a librarian position. Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the University of Houston Librarians' bylaws. They are expected to develop a record of service, scholarship, and professional development. The UH Libraries support the ongoing professional development of librarians, and our goal is to recruit librarians committed to continuous learning.
