Space Policy Analyst, #4851 (Project Management)
The Space Analyst will support the Principal Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force for Space (SAF/SP). SAF/SP has overall responsibility for space policy, issue integration, and strategy for the Department of the Air Force (AF); this office also provides the principal support to the Secretary of the Air Force (SecAF) on space matters and coordinates activities across the AF space enterprise. The SAF/SP prepares policies for approval and issues official guidance/procedures via official AF publications to ensure implementation of those policies. This office provides the principal support for the SAF/SPs role as the Headquarters Air Force (HAF) focal point for space matters and in coordinating activities across the AF space enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Lead and perform substantial specific analytic projects, prepare and brief results to senior leadership.Provide Subject Matter Expertise and analysis for space systems and space mission areas.Facilitate and support the development of executable Analyses and plans for implementation to influence and guide planning and requirements, programming, budgeting and execution.Perform modeling and simulation for architectural assessments and program analysis as required.Support Space issue papers for budgeting cycle to include; Deputys Management Action Group and Defense Acquisition Boards related to the National Security Space Enterprise.Support planning, scheduling, and executing cross-cleared and multi organizational space control Integrated Product Teams / working groups and the Defense Space Council.Support collaborative assessments of space programmatic actions with the Intelligence Community.Formulate Air Force space policies, strategies and programs that are fully consistent with national security objectives and policies established by the President or the Secretary of DefenseOversee Air Force integration with the National Security Space EnterpriseDrafts and coordinates Director's official correspondence, presentations, speeches, briefings, meeting prep, and public appearances.Drafts and coordinates essential directorate policies, processes, and strategic planning documents to ensure unity of effort across the SAF/SP organization and the Defense Space (DS) enterprise.Drafts and coordinate senior-level briefings and documents to inform Congress, DoD, IC, civil and international partners, and other U.S. Government agencies.Collaborates with senior-level decision-makers staffs from DoD, IC, civil and international partners, and other U.S. Government agencies to ensure unity of effort across the defense space enterprise and, as appropriate, the National Security Space enterprise.Manages SAF/SP workflow accounts on NIPRNet & SIPRNet and the Task Management Tool, to ensure action items are appropriately tasked, tracked, and closed in a timely manner.Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis with the use of systems engineering techniques and modeling & simulation hardware/software as available.Demonstrated understanding of Space enterprise to include DoD requirements, acquisition, and budgeting processes and applicable National Security Space guidance and policy.Demonstrated experience evaluating NSS architectures for capability, resilience, and/or mission assurance.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, lead and execute studies or projects and outbrief results to senior leadership.Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, oral presentation and executive writing skills.Experience supporting OSD, Service HQ or DoD Agency or IC staffs.Experience with space modeling and simulations.
