Senior Accountant - CRH Americas Materials (Santa Rosa, CA) (Finance)

What You Will Do...

As the Senior Accountant, you'll perform professional-level accounting and financial functions for the Company and the Controller; and professional administrative duties associated with property management and executive support. As an employee with responsibilities involving financial and administrative matters, this position requires the employee to work with the utmost professionalism and confidentiality. Location: This position will support multiple OpCo's in Sonoma and Marin County.

Shift: Primarily work 8-10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Nights/weekends as needed (up to 10%).

What You Can Do...

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, ability and experience to perform the duties described may be qualifying.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field; and 3+ years' experience in professional accounting and administrative duties.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written) and presentation skills.
  • High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity and facilitate change.
  • Must pass pre-employment controlled-substance testing.
  • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CFE, or CMA preferred
  • SQL Query Experience preferred

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for assigned month end journal entries, monthly and quarterly reconciliations, and inventory accounting.
  • Assume responsibility for accounting for the day-to-day operations including weekly production entries, coding monthly AP Bills, job cost research
  • Exposure to monthly and annual variance analysis of operational statistics/volumes, as well as cash flow, DSO, DPO, and other items as assigned.
  • Maintain strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets and employees, ensuring compliance with SOX and other control processes and appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with CRH Americas Materials and Northwest Region accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ad hoc reporting and projects as needed to support other accounting functions/departments.
  • Provide support to transactional accounting teams as needed which may include account reconciliation, performance analysis, participation in process improvement teams, and developing relationships with the team members.

Continuous sitting with intermittent standing and walking throughout work shift. The individual is required to use moderate to fine manual dexterity with use of telephone, computer and calculator. Occasional lifting, carrying, bending and/or stooping. Hearing and verbal skills required. Visual acuity, near and far. Ability to drive a vehicle for company/Owner business.

Work Environment

Works at a non-private desk within an office building with overhead lighting and carpeted/linoleum flooring with occasional public contact. Will use a variety of standard office equipment and machines (phone, computer, calculator, etc.) in performance of most job duties. May occasionally drive to site locations where noise and dust may be encountered, and in light to heavy street and highway traffic.
