The primary roles and responsibilities include the management of Payroll Tax Service Delivery within North America which includes the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
This role will be overseeing the processes and functions below.
Accountable for the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all tax vendor Monthly, Quarterly and Annual government filings and reporting within North America.
Accountable for the detailed review and reconciliation of all Quarterly and Annual Payroll tax returns within North America.
Accountable for the creation, distribution, accuracy, timeliness and completeness of over 20,000 US and Puerto Rico employee W-2s as well as over 1,000 T4's for Canada.
Support the development and execution of the SOX Program (404) by maintaining and enhancing compliant tax processes and procedures.
Accountable for the updating of federal, state and local regulatory requirements and tax rates to ensure an accurate and compliant payroll system.
Provide tax and regulatory subject matter expertise and guidance to internal and external business partners.
Drive and support all requests, including escalations, from taxing authorities.
Review all General Ledger reconciliations of Tax Accounts.
Provide support for the annual Worker's Compensation Audit.
Accountable for the proper alignment of resources within our Back Office team to operational activities based on the business needs and the skill/knowledge of each team member.
Assure operations and deliverables meet or exceed organizational objectives, follows Global Services Finance strategies, and integrates as appropriate with other Global Service functions.
Provide leadership in the execution of continuous improvements that enhance operational processes.
Responsible for the tax activities, including document production, related to internal and external audits, testing of initiatives, application upgrades, break-fixes, and special projects such as acquisitions, divestures and reorganizations.
Organize and facilitate ongoing training efforts, and documentation development and maintenance (e.g., standard operating procedures, desktop procedures and job aids) to ensure complete, accurate, and up-to-date depiction of tax processes.
Assure that third party vendors adhere to established service level agreements associated with payroll tax, and provide feedback regarding performance.
Liaise with MADO activities to resolve escalated issues, enforce policies and procedures and ensure all taxing issues are properly identified and addressed prior to on boarding.
Support and lead Tax audits.
Support and train members of the payroll team regarding matters of payroll tax as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Required:
First level university degree with a focus in business or economics; advanced degree or accounting certification (e.g., CPA, MBA) preferred.
Typically 10+ years of experience as a financial analyst.
Knowledge and Skills:
Canadian Processing experience and expertise a big plus.
CPP Designation preferred.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Superior teamwork skills
Strong business acumen.
Good project management skills.
