Primary Purpose: To perform general duty police work in the protection of life and property through crime prevention and the enforcement of Federal, State, and local laws, policies and procedures of UC Health on an assigned shift. An Officer's duties range from periods of physical inactivity to situations requiring extreme physical exertion and may involve an element of danger.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Minimum High School Education or GED, some college preferred. Must have graduated from an approved Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy as a police officer. Must complete the IHASS basic and advanced courses in security officer training within one year of appointment.
required Certifications:
Must possess the Ohio Peace Office Training Academy (OPOTA) certification as a Police Officer with the minimum hours of training required by OPOTA, and not have a break in service as a commissioned police officer for more than one (1) year. Obtain the IAHSS Security officer certification within 12 months of employment. .
Years of Experience: Previous Police Officer experience preferred.
Required Skills and Knowledge: Communicate in the English language by phone, radio system, or in person in a group or one-to-one setting. Exercise judgment and make decisions as to appropriate action under pressure in accordance with rules, regulations and policies. Work cooperatively, courteously, but firmly with all segments of the public. Recognize and control sources of personal stress in order to perform class requirements. Observe and monitor people's behavior or objects to determine compliance with laws, codes, and regulations, policies and recall details accurately. Produce written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar. Maintain moral standards and integrity. Remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods of time. Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements. Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
