Wealth Management - Vice President - Analytics and Reporting Manager - Chicago (Finance)
Defines the Wealth Management business unit's analytics and reporting strategy and leads a team of data analysts in the execution of that strategy. The Analytics and Reporting Manager will work closely with business and technology partners across the Wealth Management business unit and other organizational units in Northern Trust to instill excellence in data driven decision making.
Strategy development includes activities such as:
•Defining the operating model for how the team will engage with both Wealth Management business partners as well as other analytics groups across Northern Trust
•Defining the business processes to best serve the analytic and reporting needs of the Wealth Management business unit
•Defining KPIs to be used to measure the team's performance
•Designing staffing models required to support business needs
•Identify the technology tools that will be used for various analytic and reporting scenarios.
The manager initially will focus on a large backlog of analytic needs identified by the business. Advocating for this new capability with a wide variety of business and technology stakeholders will be a crucial element for success.
Other responsibilities include:
•Develop tools and processes for the intake and prioritization of analytic and reporting requests.
•Provide subject matter leadership in data modeling, statistical analysis, predictive and prescriptive analytics, analytic model development and management, mining, visualization, and other quantitative analysis techniques.
•Partner with other Wealth Management data teams, such as governance, data quality, and ODS development to craft roadmaps for analytics that align with compliance needs as well as data sourcing and organization.
•Anticipate future demands of initiatives and the impact on people, processes, technology, and budget, and design solutions for those demands.
•Collaborate with partners across the Wealth Management business to ensure we are managing business expectations while balancing quality, risk, and cost.
•Manage a team and provide subject matter expertise to carry out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional, cross-organizational, and technically difficult.
•Design and implement scorecards and dashboards with Key Performance Indicators, targets, and triggers with the goal of improving performance over time.
•Data monetization - harvest benefits from large volumes of data: Create data-as-a-service and/or other personalized products and services offering(s) to differentiate Northern Trust Wealth Management from our competition and to enable us to meet our clients' (and partners') unique needs.
•Use analytics to identify actionable insights across organizational functions and impact digital transformation efforts by delivering real results.
•Minimize the time spent on looking for answers and lead the effort of spending more time on acting on actionable insights.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree.
•10 years' experience in the analytics and reporting domain.
•Experience managing teams, including recruiting, salary administration, performance measurement, goal setting/monitoring, etc.
•Working expertise in all aspects of analytics and reporting.
•Strong SQL skills.
•Strong problem solving, analytic, and quantitative abilities.
•Demonstrated results from data analytics.
•Not just experience with the implementation of various analytic tools, but the understanding of the benefits and challenges associated with these tools in meeting business needs.
•Effective in communicating the importance of analytics and reporting to both business and technical communities.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
