Physical Therapist (Finance)



Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Full-time, Physical Therapist to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.

The rehabilitation program at Nemours Children's Health has an opening for a 30 hour per week, Physical Therapist, to join our dynamic interdisciplinary team. This position services children and adolescents with brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders and post-surgical rehabilitation needs within our CARF accredited comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation program.

Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm with weekend rotation (1 day per month).

Provides physical therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures.

Maintains core competencies and any additional competencies determined to be necessary by the management team to ensure patient care needs are met.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatric and adolescent patients. Demonstrates proficiency in the care of neonates as required by assignment.
  • Able to provide physical therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
  • Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
  • Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
  • Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
  • Completes all mandatory training; may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR and program specific respiratory training.

Job Requirements
  • Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy or its equivalent from an CAPTE accredited university required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences
  • State of Delaware Physical Therapist License or provisional/temporary license required upon hire.
  • All clinical staff are required to hold a second license for PA or NJ (in addition to DE license). Must submit license or proof of application submission 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment
  • Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license or upon procurement of PA license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
  • Member of professional specialty organizations (APTA) preferred.
  • Clinical affiliation and/or work experience in pediatrics preferred.
