E&I Technician -Maintenance (Finance)



Position Summary: The Electrical, Controls, and Instrumentation technician position reports to the maintenance manager and is a 40-hour per week position with call-in as needed for down machine conditions involving electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Programming Backup:
    • Back up all plant programming, including A-B PLC programs, Siemens programs, all HMI screens, servos, and any custom programming required to restore a machine to operational condition.
    • Manage and save backup programs in accordance with Menasha policies.
    • Guard backup programs against unauthorized access.
    • Maintain an as-delivered program for everything in the facility and a working copy stored in safe or multiple safe locations.
  • Program Modification:
    • Be the only one allowed to modify, change, or edit any machine programming.
    • Manage all changes in an engineering log controlled by the E&I technician.
    • Keep and manage new updated or working copies of programs.
    • Develop a nomenclature to name all program files clearly, indicating the asset, component, and date.
  • Operational Restoration:
    • Ensure the ability to restore the plant's operational and machine programming independently in case of malware or other destructive software attacks.
    • Troubleshoot issues and identify failed components.
    • Specify parts or cross-reference to other brands as needed.
    • Reengineer solutions to address long lead times, obsolescence, and discontinued electrical components.
  • Training and Education:
    • Train and educate other technicians to ensure the maintenance team provides the highest level of technical support.
    • Create a curriculum to teach other techs how to log in to PLCs and controls for troubleshooting.
    • Ensure understanding of different control systems and the ability to access ladders and programs.
  • Network Communication:
    • Manage network and network communication responsibilities, including the server room, switches, ports, and connections to the scorekeeper system and HVAC controls.

Education/Certification

Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent Certifications

Work Experience

Must have 8-10 years in an E&I or electrical engineering role

Must have fundamental engineering knowledge and skills to Access PLCs such as Emerson, Allen Bradly or Siemens, modify ladder logic, design solutions, solve problems, and troubleshoot situations in diverse areas ranging from electronics, automation, and automation. Apply
