Job Title: Production Supervisor

Position Summary: 

Supervise plant production, packaging and personnel to ensure customer requirements and plant schedules are met efficiently.  Identify and implement cost savings measures.

Essential Duties: 

  • Direct the work force performance through proper administration of the Company/Union contract policies.  Discipline directly where necessary to maintain control of operations.
  • Assist in control and regulation of packaging operations by maintaining standard operating procedures, making prescribed changes and adjustments when necessary, and maintaining daily productions rates, yield, quality, and line efficiencies.
  • Assist in maintaining the budget limits as established for the packaging operation.
  • Administer safety/health programs to meet current OSHA and B&G requirements.
  • Direct the labor force to maintain clean housekeeping areas in meeting GMP and QSIP established standards.  This includes employee work practices and the proper cleaning of packaging equipment.
  • Obtain and maintain line efficiencies through the supervision and administration of company established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Train building personnel in proper operation techniques.
  • Identify, implement and track cost savings measures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
  • Identify and communicate food safety issues; lead and influence food safety initiatives. 

Minimum Experience: 

Total Yrs. of Experience: 3 to 5 years

Additional information:

Three years supervisory or process improvement experience in food

manufacturing or related industry. 

Equipment/Software Skills:

Must be PC literate with working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and

PowerPoint.

Minimum Qualifications – Education, Skills & Abilities: 

Minimum Formal Education: Bachelor Degree

Major: Technical, Business or Engineering

Specialized Training/Certification: SQF Practitioner or obtain within 6-9 months

Internal Stakeholders (Manufacturing departments)

External Stakeholders (Packaging vendors)

Supervisory/Functional Management Requirements: 

Manages a single function with supervisory responsibility and has budget responsibility

Titles of direct reports: Line Operators, forepersons

  • Directly supervises   15-35     employees

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: 

Physical: Must have ability to sit and walk for extended periods of time on a daily basis.

Sensory: Must utilize all senses as normal.

Mental/Reasoning: Must have strong analytical and problem solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker).
