Manages region/local sales activities for the company by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Sells transportation and logistics solutions/services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Leads by example, brings the best out of his sales team, helping each member to be high achievers. Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop sales team. Helps coordinate sales territories, and goals. Works with employees to analyze work requirements and work conditions to propose and implement changes to increase effectiveness. Analyzes and resolves work issues, or assists in solving work issues. Responsible for compliance of departmental and company policies.
Coordinates and confers with Vice President, Sales and other personnel to coordinate company activities. Keeps Vice President advised of changes within his assigned territory. Also keeps informed of trends and activities occurring within the industry. Utilizes selling concepts, tools, and techniques developed and/or provided by the Company. Develops strategies to produce maximum profitable revenue to meet required sales targets.
Prepares proposals and bids to obtain sales. Quotes prices, credit and other terms; and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Responsible for completion of related paperwork, communications, and customer service activities, including data analysis and facilitation of customer reports.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to build relationships of trust and to develop business and is responsible for discovering, developing, servicing and retaining customers within their assigned territory. Confers with customers to evaluate and indentify value creating solutions and services. Ensures professional handling of all interactions.
Responsible for maintaining required number of quality calls. Prepares and keeps reports of calls and other business activities, including required sales reports and current customer record notes. Keeps record of travel and entertainment expenses.
Maintains and develops relationships of trust with customers. Meets all agreed to requirements of customers. Is assessable to customers as needed.
May assist in special projects as requested.
Records, traces, and enters information on company computer system as required. Makes inquiries from computer system. Operates other simple business machines. Maintains details of business transactions or other records as needed. Reviews customers billing and service to assure we are performing properly and accurately. Answers telephones and emails and responds appropriately and professionally.
Dependable and consistent attendance required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) with emphasis on marketing, management or transportation studies from a four-year college or university; or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as hazardous materials shipping regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and density. Is proficient in excel and is competent with excel formulas and data analysis.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work with others. Operational experience is a plus.
Must have valid (appropriate state) drivers license and be able to travel via automobile for extended periods.
Position requires ability to write, use keyboard and 10-key efficiently. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to travel throughout the terminal and office facility repeatedly during shift. Must be able to travel throughout assigned territory. Must be able to conduct telephone communication. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee also may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
