Fall River Health Services is looking for an Registered Nurse. As a member of the multidisciplinary care team, the RN provides general nursing care to residents. The RN contributes to overall resident care which is guided by the resident care plan, facility policies and procedures, and professional standards of practice. The RN directly supervises the Nursing Assistants. Supervisory Responsibilities: Health Unit Clerk, Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Medication Aides Schedule: 36 hours per week 12-hour shifts. Shifts will vary (days and nights as needed). All employees are expected to work as needed in providing health and wellness services in the community.Make nursing assessments regarding the health status of the residents; making nursing diagnosis which serves as the basis or the strategy of care. Develop a plan of care based on assessment and nursing diagnosis; implement nursing care; and evaluate responses to nursing interventions.Make provisions for outside physician visits to ensure residents medical needs are met. Demonstrates effective communication with physician and family members to ensure resident needs are met. Performs teaching to residents, families and staff to ensure understanding of the residents plan of care. Understands, promotes and implements the choices philosophy and resident rights.Prepare, administers and charts routine and emergency medication and treatment as ordered. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their side effects.Clinical record reflects accurate and timely documentation to ensure continuity and quality of resident care.Perform safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and staff. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, participates in Quality Assurance program to ensure appropriate standards of care are met within the facility.Function as the primary contact person on assigned shift. Effectively supervises nursing assistants to ensure compliance with plan of care.Demonstrate knowledge, skills and ability in IV therapy to include initiating IVs, administration of initial medication, management of central line and catheters.Coordinate the care of assigned residents, consulting with the Director of Nursing as necessary. This position assists in the interpretation and implementation of facility policies for staff. The overall resident care activities of the position are clearly defined in department policies, procedures and standards of the profession. The incumbent provides care within the boundaries of physician orders, department procedures and policies, and RN scope of practice. In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Fall River Health Services Community Health Assessment needs or requirements. Visual and auditory ability to assess resident conditions to administer effective care using standard nurse practices: must have the ability to verbally communicate and problem solve effectively with residents, staff, physicians, and families; must have the manual dexterity to perform such functions as administering injections, inserting catheters and pushing a medication cart. Must have the physical agility to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with established facility practice regarding unexpected resident safety needs, must have the ability to complete forms and records and will be required to assist with lifting and transferring of residents as needed. Average pay is $34.00 -$39.00/hour depending on experience.
