Mechanic Helper Job Summary: 

Sweeping Corp of America is looking for a motivated Mechanic Helper to join our team. This is position is ideal for someone eager to start a career in equipment and diesel repair. As a Mechanic Helper, you will support experienced technicians by assisting with daily organization, ordering parts, basic mechanical tasks, and other shop duties. Pay Range: $29-$40 based on experience

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensure the mechanic team is updated on daily plans and assignments - establish a huddle and build the plan for the day, based off PM services and open issues you have priorities set on, adjust as needed based on breakdowns throughout the day  

• Regular use of Fleet Maintenance System, Fleetio, to keep informed on open shop assignments, build daily plan prioritizing critical needs, log work orders, charge parts and labor, update status on trucks throughout the day, make detailed notes on trucks that are down, parts inventory, etc.  

• Schedule 90-Day BIT inspections and PM services daily: expected to complete at least one 90 per day and 10 PM services per month.  

• Clean shop daily: take pride in ensuring the shop is in order and there are no safety hazards. Promote cleanliness as a priority with techs.  

• Order parts and update the declining balance sheet daily  

• Communicate with operations throughout the day on progress and setbacks   

Job Requirements: 

• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.  

• Some mechanical experience (experience using Fleet Maintenance Systems preferred) 

• Willingness to learn and assist higher-level mechanics with more advanced repairs. 

• Excellent attendance and reliability. 

• Consistent attendance with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed. 

• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift. 

• Ability to work in noisy environments with exposure to vibration and fumes. 

• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to follow instructions. 

• Basic mechanical aptitude or previous industry experience is a plus
