Executive Speechwriting Specialist (Finance)
The incumbent will write, edit, and produce content for speeches, talking points, presentations, keynote addresses, video scripts, and other communications of significance on behalf of the Director of Executive Speechwriting and designated senior leadership, tailoring communications as necessary to address audiences of various constituencies and industries. As such, the incumbent will be charged with engaging and cultivating relationships with numerous constituencies including, but not limited to, University leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and critical external stakeholders to understand the viewpoints and dynamics of these populations. The incumbent serves as a critical member of the University Communications team, supporting multiple members of the University's senior leadership and the Director of Executive Speechwriting. The incumbent will consult and advise on executive communications strategies and messaging, ensure consistency, and provide recommendations for enhancement. This requires business acumen and the ability to think strategically. The incumbent is expected to perform research, verify content, and transform complex concepts into clear and meaningful communications. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to meet strict deadlines and handle sensitive, confidential information.
A qualified candidate will have experience in both creative and academic or business writing. Though not required, experience in theater, broadcast news, or other performative work is preferred. A bachelor's degree is required. Candidate must submit an example of a speech written for presentation.
Prior speechwriting experience is preferred. Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, English, or combination of training and experience essential to the position. Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Outlook.
