Security Officer (Pearland Campus) (Finance)

Description:
The Security Officer supports the UHCL Police Department at the Pearland Campus. This position unlocks and locks the campus buildings at opening and closing hours, patrols the campus checking for criminal activity, rule violations, and irregularities, and provides immediate contact with the university's police department in the event of an emergency when a police officer is not present.
Duties:
- Patrols the campus buildings and parking areas checking for criminal activity, rules violations, and irregularities.
- Provides excellent customer service to the campus community.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with campus Staff, Faculty, and students.
- Performs unlocking and locking campus buildings at scheduled times.
- Provides immediate contact with the university's police department in the event of an emergency and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one year experience as a security officer.
- Valid, current Texas driver's license upon first day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of education beyond high school in college or technical school.
- Three years experience as a security officer.
- Experience as a security officer on a campus or higher education environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Skills to effectively use a police radio.
- Ability to identify and solve issues of a routine and simplistic nature.
- Ability to provide effective and concise oral and written communications to police personnel and other university entities
- Ability to follow precise directions in both emergency and non-emergency situations and remain calm while doing so.
