Assistant Controller (Agriculture)

Scoular's downtown Minneapolis office is searching for an Assistant Controller to add to their team! The Assistant Controller is responsible for safeguarding the company's assets by monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures by identifying and reporting risk exposure and by analyzing and reporting financial information. This position works closely with the Senior Controllers and Directors of Accounting & Control to provide leadership on design and implementation of operational accounting procedures in conjunction with Scoular's strategic plan, policies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Job Responsibilities
· Analyze and communicate information to management on a timely basis
· Monitor system information, identify and resolve concerns
· Actively assist management to develop solutions to system or other procedural issues they encounter
· Audit and critically review existing controls and processes especially in areas where you have been designated system expert
· Design and implement new processes as necessary to enhance efficiencies and maintain necessary controls
· Apply knowledge and expertise to strategic company initiatives, business development and Enterprise Services projects from inception to integration
· Develop, train and coach personnel
· Responsible for month end close functions
· Conduct internal audits and “agreement” reviews
Minimum Qualifications
· A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
· Five years of in-depth commodity accounting experience including mark-to-market
· International business experience preferred
· Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels
· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
· Ability to research and solve problems
· Ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-changing workplace
