Accounting Manager (Legal)
Oversees all financial activities of accountants. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, directing, and approving work; review, approval and sign-off of high level reconciliations and analysis; Ensures accurate and timely reporting of financial data related to these operations. Ensures staff is focused as well as motivated and accounting processes remain streamlined. Oversees implementation of systems that increase organizational efficiency; addresses complaints and resolves problems; interviews, hires, and trains employees; performance appraisals; rewards and disciplines employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMonitor employee performance and ensure accuracy of employee work. Initiate or suggest plans to maximize use of staff and/or take corrective action to resolve errors.
Set a good example for all employees in performance, work ethic, attendance, dress, and professionalism
Work with other department supervisors and managers to coordinate month end close activities
Deliver timely and accurate financial information
Prepare and review financial statement and supporting schedules for SEC reporting, budgeting, and internal control documentation and testing
Understand and ensure that Company policies are followed, particularly those relating to finance and accounting. Recommend and implement changes as appropriate.
Take the lead in understanding, assessing, and analyzing balance sheet and income statement accounts for monthly and quarterly closes
Play a supporting role in the preparation for and coordination of statutory audits in the regions
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in accounting or related field; CPA (active or inactive) preferred, Big Four experience desirable
7 years minimum experience, prior managerial experience preferred
