Position description
Location: Domitilla (DO4D), Hospital Internal Medicine (General Care) Patient Care Type: A medical unit that provides care for patients on the Hospital Internal Medicine (HIM) and Nephrology services. The unit features an area for patients that are receiving hospice or palliative care. Bed #: 39 Nursing Team Roles: Medical patients present with a variety of acute or chronic health problems, often with multiple comorbidities to be managed. The unit also provides inpatient hospice care. There is an emphasis on discharge planning with daily multidisciplinary patient care rounds. Complex discharge planning is often required to return these patients to the community. Care is provided by dedicated staff. The staff consists of registered nurses, patient care assistants, and health unit coordinators. The patient care assistant assists patient care unit staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The patient care assistant carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
