Content Marketing Manager (Creative Design)
Management Concepts is seeking an individual with strong editing and writing skills and a passion for storytelling to join our Marketing team.
Our new Content Marketing Manager will help establish and maintain a clear and consistent voice across all our visual and written marketing materials. This role will work closely with our sales, product management and digital marketing teams to develop content to drive prospect and customer engagement. Approximately 40% of his/her time will be spent acting as the ‘Editor-in-Chief' of our corporate blog; i.e. managing the editorial calendar; reviewing, editing and proofreading the posts submitted by internal and external authors; and ensuring SEO best practices are adhered to during publishing.
The balance will be spent in creating visual and written content designed to drive brand awareness, engagement and leads from a variety of marketing sources. Types include –but are not limited to– ad copy, marketing emails, web content, and sales literature. The Content Marketing Manager will also be responsible for working with our internal creative services resources and/or external specialty agencies to script and produce explainer and promotional videos.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and deadline-oriented self-starter who enjoys a variety of creative challenges and is looking for professional growth. Our relationship with a variety of associations will put you in touch with top consultants as well as current and former senior Federal Government executives so excellent interpersonal skills are important.
Note: Candidates for this position should be prepared to provide writing and video samples.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience.
Develop and continuously refine a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, both short- and long-term.
Supervise the authoring of marketing and thought-leadership content by internal and external subject matter experts.
Maintain industry awareness across a diverse range of topics.
Be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, style and SEO (as it relates to content).
Develop standards, systems, and best practices (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, maintenance, retrieval, repurposing, and retirement.
Leverage market data to develop content themes/topics and execute a plan to develop the assets that support a point of view and educate customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5+ years of journalism, editorial, or advertising experience with a solid portfolio of work across multiple channels. Experience with direct marketing a plus, but not required.
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or marketing. Master's degree preferred but not required.
Competing priorities and tight deadlines are the norm so strong organizational, project management, and decision-making skills are required.
Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with all stakeholders and team members.
Experience with social media platforms and WordPress or other Content Management Software required. Familiarity with SEO best practices preferred.
Excellent computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and HTML a plus.
