Government Affairs Principal - Pharmacy Regulatory Affairs

The Government Affairs Principal for Pharmacy Regulatory Affairs guides the company on strategic Government Relations decisions and provides advice that has a significant impact on pharmacy practice and operations.

Assists in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure the corporation's awareness of and impact on state legislation affecting the company.

Designs plans for government outreach by providing analysis of emerging or existing pharmacy regulatory issues impacting the company.

Gathers intelligence and assists in the preparation of position papers, policy briefings, presentations, regulatory and legislative testimony for pending legislative and regulatory actions.

Leads critical projects and works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.

Possesses industry-wide authority and represents the organization externally.

Widely recognized pharmacy regulatory expert and thought leader by both internal and external community and is responsible for the technical leadership of a major department/multiple departments across a function.

Reporting to the Senior Government Affairs Principal, the Government Affairs Principal executes on strategic pharmacy regulatory affairs objectives by:

  • Representing the organization on pharmacy practice and pharmacy operations issues before state boards of pharmacy.
  • Assessing the impact of public policy proposals brought before state boards of pharmacy and making strategic recommendations to address the proposal.
  • Personal regulatory lobbying.
  • Recommending advocacy strategies to the Government Affairs Senior Principal.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop solutions to pharmacy regulatory proposals and issues.
  • Assisting the state lobby team in understanding the impact of state legislative proposals addressing pharmacy practice or operations.

Qualifications

  • State licensed Pharmacist with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in State Pharmacy Regulatory Affairs with a focus on the State Boards of Pharmacy, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and DEA and FDA requirements related to pharmacy practice
  • The ability to travel, specifically to Board of Pharmacy Meetings, NABP Annual and District Meetings and other meetings related to pharmacy practice regulation.
  • excellent communication, presentation and writing skills for internal and external engagements, including internal updates, drafting of comment letters and presentations before the Boards of Pharmacy.
  • established relationships with the Boards of Pharmacy members and staff
  • familiarity with pharmacy professional practice rules, pharmacy compliance and regulatory affairs.
  • knowledge of various pharmacy practice models, with an emphasis on mail and specialty pharmacy including knowledge of compounding regulations, and the implementation of AI in the pharmacy practice context.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 149,700 - 249,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
