Performance Improvement Manager (Finance)

The PI Manager is a critical member of the Learning Health System (LHS) program, which is included in the strategic plan of UCGNI. The goal of the LHS program is to make UCGNI a destination for excellence and improve neuroscience patient outcomes in neurology and neurosurgery. Over the next several years, the LHS work will be incorporated into most of the 13 centers of excellence within UCGNI. This is a part of the overall vision for UCGNI's goal to become a top 5 neuroscience institute.

Curating and Enhancing a knowledge based platform to keep all participating sites up to speed with latest information about the learning collaborative

Lead a team of process/performance specialists and experts on partnering with teams to test and implement changes to achieve higher reliability in outcomes, safety, experience, flow, and value. Integrate with system staff to lead, and support improvement projects and work using improvement tools and methodology at UC Health. Mentor, coach, and manage improvement staff into higher levels of improvement expertise and skills to achieve results for initiatives on the strategic and operational plan. Collaborate with other managers in the department to ensure improvement methodology and tools are used for Safety, Infection Prevention, Accreditation as applicable with site leaders and teams.Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in Clinical, Engineering, Business or a related field. Preferred: Master's Degree in Clinical, Engineering, Business or a related field. | Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB), Certified Practitioner of Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). One required within 12 months of hire. | Work experience as an operational leader (supervisor, manager, etc.) is highly desired. Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience. Preferred: 6 - 10 Years equivalent experience.Performance Improvement Strategy Development:
• Create and implement performance improvement plans to enhance productivity, improve clinical outcomes and drive quality through the UC Health system.
• Partner with operational/departmental leaders and teams to facilitate, coach, and execute work in small and large group settings with all levels of staff from the front line to executives.
• Manage a data-driven strategy for performance improvement through data stratification, analysis and action plans.
• Lead initiatives to partner with data and project management teams to complete analyses to make data-driven decisions related to performance improvement.
• Lead collaborations with key operators and functional leaders on improvement initiatives to ensure system performance is reliable and sustainable.
• Deliver change management strategies and tactics as needed to move improvement projects to completion.

Prioritization and Communication:
• Partner with executive leadership to develop, plan and execute strategic prioritization of performance improvement efforts.
• Deliver clear, efficient, and professional communication in support the
activities and projects of the department, system and operational goals across system departments, sites and/or teams as appropriate.
• Design, create, assemble, and distribute materials for project communications and courses as necessary.

Relationship Management:
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across the system, to achieve performance improvement and organizational goals/system strategy.
• Foster collaboration and encourage teamwork across departments and disciplines.
• Establish trust and rapport with clinicians, operational leaders and staff to align goals and priorities.

Coaching and Development:
• Coach and mentor frontline staff, project teams, and improvement course participants on improvement methodology and tools as outlined in the UC Health Performance Improvement Way (UC Health PI Way).
• Create, design, and support structured learning opportunities, just-in-time modules and online material to maximize learning of users/participants.
• Lead the delivery of informative and constructive feedback using a question-based approach to enhance others learning and change management.

Performance Management:
• Manage, mentor, and coach improvement staff to develop a high level of improvement expertise and the skill to achieve results, including opportunities, assignments, professional growth & development, yearly performance management & evaluation.
• Provide leadership to the Performance Improvement (PI) department as a manager to staff. Serve as an internal resource/expert, to staff, participants, physicians/faculty, patients/families, and/or the community for issues related to PI.
