POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Maintenance Assistant will offer support to the Maintenance Director. The position helps maintain a pleasant and safe environment for children and guests, that is clean, well-groomed, and functional. It is of utmost importance that the facility looks its best when participants arrive for their programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Customer Service oriented; planning of projects around the day-to-day operations of camp and making suggestions for better camp operations. 2. Assists maintenance director in leading maintenance team members in completion of work orders and projects, routine maintenance, and groundskeeping activities. These activities many include but are not limited to: a. Operates vehicles such as trucks, mowers, and utility vehicles. b. Cares for grounds by mowing/edging with mowers or edgers, mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls. c. Mixes and sprays herbicides with hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders d. Uses hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes e. Uses power tools such as Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws f. Gathers and remove litter/trash. g. Maintains or repairs tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, fences, or benches. h. Upkeeps sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, or other grounds features 3. Organizes and prioritizes work orders and projects. 4. Work with machinery, systems, and tools safely and efficiently (OSHA compliance). Problem solves issues with machinery, systems, and tools and proposes / coordinates solutions with supervisor. 5. Promptly reports issues/problems to Maintenance Director or Branch Executive Director. 6. Completes all reports and documentation timely including but not limited to: incident reports, accident reports, camper behavior reports, child abuse reports, and other business office forms. 7. Other duties as assigned.

Attend required abuse risk management training. 2. Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers. 3. Adhere to procedures related to managing and supervising high-risk activities. 4. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. 5. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
