We are seeking a senior-level engineer (MEP) with extensive experience in plumbing systems, design, and governing codes to join our team of engineers, construction and forensic investigation experts. The Senior Project Engineer/MEP will assist our project team in evaluating existing commercial building operational systems, emphasizing plumbing systems and components. The successful candidate must also have an in-depth working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems and be able to evaluate system performance, functionality and determine maintenance and repair requirements, plus generate required operational maintenance schedules and repair recommendations.
This position serves as the top subject matter expert in building systems and provides consultative support to building facilities operation leadership, construction project managers, engineers and contractors. The position will also manage and ensure building system renovations and construction efforts are executed in accordance with current governing building codes, design plan specifications and any mandated requirements for repair or upgrades.
While the position will initially be based in southern California, there is a current need to evaluate building systems for approximately 50 buildings in four states. Additionally, this work could expand to include federal buildings nationally.
This position is not prevailing wage, may begin as a part-time position and is anticipated to evolve into a full-time position as project scope develops.
Responsibilities include:
• Site Inspection of existing building facilities and systems in commercial buildings.
• Forensic investigation to identify and locate problems and areas of concern.
• Generating reports with recommendations for repair and/or replacement strategies.
• Developing and prioritizing schedules for necessary repairs.
• Creating facilities management strategy, initiatives and best practices related to building system infrastructure.
• Preparing and analyzing budget data for repair or replacement of buildings' facilities and advising management on expense projections.
• Acting as subject matter expert who will liaise with internal and external project managers to develop and implement best practices and standards for facilities' infrastructure design and maintenance.
• Managing repair/replacement projects for timely, successful delivery.
• Reviewing plans, acquiring permits for repairs, alterations, upgrades and coordinating all inspections as necessary.
• Examining and testing replacement systems to ensure they are installed properly and comply with federal, state, and local code requirements.
• Coordinating project close out and finalization.
• Other duties as assigned.
