Director, IT Applications (Information Technology)

JOB SUMMARY

Technology leader who manages applications and data systems and participates in technology strategy and policy development.

The Information System Director is responsible for the acquisition, implementation and maintenance of business applications and data systems. The role collaborates with the CIO and IT Director to develop and implement policies and procedures while collaborating across Relay to achieve business goals and objectives. The IS Director oversees staff to ensure internal partners receive appropriate assistance to plan and leverage applications and data systems including supporting and optimizing key applications such as HRIS, CRM and ERP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Applications & Data Systems Management 25%

Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all information systems. Collaborate with team and departments to scope process and application improvements, configurations and upgrades Develop and oversee service support processes, including incident, change, and release management Oversee the SaaS application inventory and ensure proper user counts and service levels. Manage IaaS/PaaS scaling and usage including balancing performance with cost Participate in establishing and implementing risk management processes Enforce application and system security and stability including configurations, processes, backups, and disaster recovery. Benchmark, analyze, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of IT operational and related systems. Support the Identification, recommendation, development, and delivery of end user training programs, usage guides, and FAQs to increase technology literacy and self-sufficiency. Function as a senior resource for IT staff and system users. Perform advanced diagnostics of user problems. Assist in training other IT personnel to improve their technical skills.

Strategy and Planning 20%

Participate in strategic and operational planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources. Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure applications ecosystem meets existing and future requirements. Partner with CIO to establish strategic roadmap with objectives, goals, and governance for business applications, data systems and other critical technology. Analyze, recommend, and evaluate new products to meet business needs and improve efficiency, scalability, and security of existing applications and platforms. Working with management, develop, implement, and oversee policies and processes based on best practices for implementation, training, adoption and optimization of applications and platforms. Participate in the planning and execution of cloud computing strategies, including migrating existing applications and infrastructure to SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc., consistent with the strategy. Keep current with the latest technologies, industry standards, and trends.

Team and Stakeholder Management 20%

Oversee and coordinate distributed application administrators ensuring they understand overarching organizational and department objectives Supervise and mentor technical team members including data engineers, analysts and administrators Manage staffing - including recruitment, supervision, and performance management. Collaborate with CIO and IT Director to set department goals, policies and processes Partner with executives and other directors to align department and organization objectives Translate organizational objectives into technical solutions that scale Communicate and explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders Act as an escalation point for complex systems issues and major project decisions Establish relationships and maintain regular communications with management, stakeholders, and end-users about pertinent operational activities.

Vendor & Application Management 20%

Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for operational projects and associated efforts in accordance with Company expenditure and procurement policies. Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure specific products and services. Liaise with vendors for the procurement of new systems technologies; oversee the implementation and resolve issues and coordinate resolution of issues with vendors. Communicate and build relationships with vendors to maintain and manage relationships, products and costs

Budget Management 10%

Manage the costs of the SaaS application inventory and PaaS/IaaS Collaborate with CIO and Director of IT on department budgets Conduct near-term and long-term financial forecasts based on expanding functionality and user growth.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field, or 10+ years related work experience. Experience managing in a cloud environment Experience managing software implementation projects Experience managing applications or data pipelines Experience building and growing a technology team Experience leading teams in support of diverse business areas Experience with budget preparation and management. Experience managing vendors/partners, and contracts In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, like HIPAA Functional knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Office 365, Teams, SharePoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience architecting data and applications systems and pipelines Strong knowledge of cloud computing technologies and architectures. Experience with IaaS/PaaS Experience migrating from on-premises to cloud. ERP system experience. Salesforce, NetSuite, and UKG experience

Ability to pass criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment
